Last week of the first tri!

I am SOOOOOOOO excited that as of next week I will be moving into my second trimester, which I have heard over and over again is much better then the first trimester! It is already going so fast and I know the next couple months will go even quicker since I am going to be a busy busy girl! I have been CRAZY busy with choreography for my two dance teams: urbandale High School and Grand View University ........ only 2 routines left to go, so I will be completely dont with them by the end of August! Phew! Just in time for me to start getting too big of a belly to properly demonstrate routines! haha

Also, THIS Friday we are leaving for our Wyoming/South Dakota road trip .... were going to a wedding for the first part of the weekend and then leaving for Mount Rushmoore, Devils Tower, Camping, Hiking, the Badlands, etc! Should be REALLY fun and I am really really looking forward to a break from my daily routine! Hoping my stomach will hold up with the high altitude and long car rides! YIKES!

Well in baby news....... I have been doing a little better, just sick from time to time but not as bad..... just a little dizzy and upset stomach. Here is my weekly update from what to expect:

Week 13
Feeling better yet? Now that you're just a week away from the second trimester at 13 weeks pregnant, you should be feeling pretty good soon (after all, the second trimester doesn't get its reputation for being the easiest and most comfortable of the three trimesters for nothing). But if you're not feeling better yet, don't worry. While most early pregnancy symptoms will probably soon be behind you, some women find that nausea and fatigue linger into the fourth and even fifth months. And unfortunately, for some women, those and other usual first trimester suspects (such as bloating, constipation, headaches, and breast tenderness) can continue to some extent throughout pregnancy.

Being preggo is fun!?

Well, first of all I am an IDIOT and wrote that my cervix was the size of a grapefruit in my last post when I meant to write my uterus. That would be bad bad bad if my cervix was that big. haha woops.... Im blaming my pregnant brain!

Anyways, I have been SICK a lot again. I thought it was dwindling down but then it came back full force I have been vomiting and getting BAD headaches. But I am only about 2 weeks away from being in my second trimester when everything magically gets better, right?? I went to dance camp with my UHS dance team girls last Thurs, Fri, Sat and those were some LONG days, but I survived and spent the rest of the weekend working on stuff to finish up our house. We finally got our guest bedroom all decorated and now we are redoing our master bedroom.... then when that is done we will work on the nursery. I have already been taking stuff out of there and throwing junk away. Not much storage in our house so we can really only keep the necessities. By the way I am starting to show a little bit, which I think it is too early to be showing so its probably just fatness...... I am only in my 11th week! Here is my week 11 update from what to expect.com :

Week 11 of Pregnancy: Baby's Hair and Fingernails Develop
Slightly more than two inches long now and weighing about a third of an ounce, your fetus is growing by leaps and bounds when you are 11 weeks pregnant. And so is his or her head, which is equal in length to the rest of the body (don't worry — all fetuses are top-heavy). On the crown of that large head (and over the rest of the body), hair follicles are forming. Fingernail and toenail beds begin to develop this week and by next week, the nails themselves will start to grow (so don't forget to add a baby nail clipper to your to-buy list).
Your baby's body is straightening and his or her torso is lengthening (sounds like a yoga pose, doesn't it?). Other poses your baby can assume now: stretches, somersaults, and forward rolls. And while you can't tell this baby's gender by its cover yet, testes are developing if it's a boy and ovaries if it's a girl.

Grapefruit size UTERUS....

I found out yesterday that my uterus is now the size of a grapefruit..... and I can really feel it now.... WEIRD! My sickness has lessened quite a bit, which I am very happy about! I am still sick off and on but not as consistent as I was there for a while! Plus I have actually had some energy off and on as well, just by 8:00 pm I am usually DEAD! Work has been BLAH lately so my friend Lindsy and I came up with a business plan and we decided to start our own event planning business, in which we will mainly focus on weddings..... our business is going to be called "Perfect Day Planners" and we already have a couple weddings we are working on, we both love planning, both are very organized, and both love weddings so I think it will be really great! Hopefully someday it will be big enough for us to do it full time!!!!
Back to baby talk..... my mom bought us our first set of baby clothes and some bibs, gender neutral of course. I love all the old wise tales that everyone keeps telling me about how to predict if it is a boy or a girl, if they are true then I am having a mixed boy/girl freak because each one of them tells me something different. haha ......... I go to the doctor tomorrow for my first official pregnancy exam, Jake is coming with me and I think we are going to get to hear the heart beat! THAT WILL BE AWESOME, I CANT WAIT! Here is the baby update of the week:
Week 10 of Pregnancy: Baby's Bones Develop
Your baby's growth is fast and furious when you are
10 weeks pregnant. He or she is nearly an inch and a half long and the size of a prune, but not nearly as shriveled (even with all the time it spends in water). In fact, your baby is really taking a human shape now. Bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. The arms (complete with elbows) can flex already, but don't run to the store for a baseball bat just yet. Though your baby's arms are taking shape and getting stronger, each one is only about the size of this number 1. The tooth bud fairy is making her appearance this week, heralding the arrival of your baby's little choppers, which are forming under the gums. (Those pearly whites won't break through the gums until your baby is close to six months old). Other systems are go, too. Your baby's stomach is producing digestive juices, the kidneys are producing larger quantities of urine, and, if your baby's a boy, he's already producing testosterone (yikes!).

Embryo to a Fetus...

So, the baby has officially changed from an embryo to a fetus, which I feel is kind of exciting..... it makes it sound more human! haha! I have been terribly sick and it is AWFUL, not to mention that we dont have air conditioning in our house STILL, but it gets installed TODAY and my life will be a billion times better! Luckily we had a window unit in our bedroom and that made sleeping a LOT easier!

I never knew how tired you are when you are pregnant! I hear that the first trimester is the worst, and god I hope so, cause this is TERRIBLE! I am constantly nauseas and always exhausted to the point where I could lay down and take a nap at any time of day! But in about a month I will be moving on to my 2nd trimester and hopefully get that infamous energy boost that everyone keeps telling me about!! But this will all be worth it in about 7 months when I get to meet my baby! CANT WAIT! Here is some info on what my baby is doing right now:

Week 9: Fetal Growth This Week
Your fetus is now about one inch long, the size of a medium green olive. The head has straightened out, the ears are much more prominent, and some new organs (the liver, spleen, and gallbladder) are forming.

Expecting..... cant believe it!

Well, the wedding has come and gone. It was an amazing day! The weather was PERFECT all day until about 4:30 (wedding was supposed to start at 5:30) when it started to rain....... and we couldnt use our backup anymore because it was too late to change. So we waited out the rain, dried off the chairs and snuck in our 25 min ceremony before the rain started again. It couldnt have worked out any better! The ceremony was awesome, the bus ride to the reception with the wedding party was awesome, and of course the reception was a GREAT time! Everyone danced and got real drunk...... which is what receptions are for--- it was really fun!

The next morning we were supposed to be at the airport at 8am for our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic .... our flight was supposed to be at 10am but when we got there they said our flight was cancelled. NEAT! So anyways, they got us on another flight at 8:35! AHHH SO we SPRINTED through the Des Moines airport and had to cut in line at security since they were calling our names over the PA system.....it was not a good start to the day! But we made it and our honeymoon was SO worth it! The Domincan Republic is AWESOME we went on some good excursions and met some fun people, and of course worked really hard on our tans! haha

THEN we got back and had to drive to another wedding in the Ozarks, which was fun. and I noticed I was late for that time of month before we left so I took a pregnancy test to make sure.... it was a negative result. Then we came back from the Ozarks and later that week I took another test since I was STILL late, and it came back positive (to my surprise). So anyways, I told Jake.... he was surprised, and we made a doc appointment.

Looks like I got pregnant on the wedding night and am due February 14th, 2010! VALENTINES DAY! I cant wait to find out the sex and to meet the baby! Baby Shandri is on the way!!!! I will update pregnancy stuff more often now that I am going to be sitting at work thinking about it all the time! haha

Thats all for now...... Oh yeah PS. I have been terribly sick from the pregnancy thing and really tired. YUCK. Cant wait until the so called 2nd trimester energy boost!

THIS WEEK!

I MADE IT! This weekend is the big day!!! I cant believe it is FINALLY here! AHHHH!

We have pretty much everything taken care of and I just have a few minor details to finish up like wrapping the male attendant's gifts and going to meet with a few vendors! It is crazy how fast the time went and now I am counting down the hours until I walk down the aisle and then head away on a MUCH needed vacation! awwwww sand between my toes in LESS THEN a week! woo hoo!

The weather is driving me nuts but I think it is going to end up being beautiful! I looked at 3 different websites and they all said party cloudy and around 75 degrees..... then of course the Des Moines Register said slight chance of rain. BOO. But I think the bigger weather predictors like CNN, weather channel, and weatherbug are more accurate. OR AT LEAST I HOPE!

I have terrible ADD today and cant think about ANYTHING work related, which is really not very good since i will be gone so long I really need to get some stuff DONE! But oh well I have a good excuse this week! I am off to go meet with my wonderful wedding helper, Lindsy Lippincott. YAY! OK BYE!

I'm never drinking again!

I am pretty sure that I am never and I mean NEVER drinking again! I had my bachelorette party on Saturday night which was SOOOOOOOO fun, but resulted in me STILL being hungover today (two days later). Neat.

The party started with drinking (of course), opening presents, and then the pole dancing lady came! She set up a pole at my sisters house and we had a blast on that thing! Well I was mostly on it by myself but it was really really fun! Plus I got to spend time with a lot of people I never see!

THEN we went on the party bus! We went to Uncle Bucks, I rode the mechanical bull and we had a great time there! Then we got back on the bus, but my youngest sister fell and hurt her foot (might be broken) and so we had to make a pit stop back at her house! Neat again.

Back on the bus...... we went downtown to Liars (boo), Tequilla Toms, and Johnnys. All were really fun, too many shots and off we went home. I ordered a pizza from the bus which was dumb because the pizza man beat us to the house and was mad. BUT I never got any pizza because I was throwing up my guts and crying (I dont know why) for an hour until my sister put me to bed.

The whole next day I was dead and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick. and still am today. Had a really fun time but I am never and I mean NEVER drinking again. I cant even think about alcohol. BLAH
