Well, first of all I am an IDIOT and wrote that my cervix was the size of a grapefruit in my last post when I meant to write my uterus. That would be bad bad bad if my cervix was that big. haha woops.... Im blaming my pregnant brain!
Anyways, I have been SICK a lot again. I thought it was dwindling down but then it came back full force I have been vomiting and getting BAD headaches. But I am only about 2 weeks away from being in my second trimester when everything magically gets better, right?? I went to dance camp with my UHS dance team girls last Thurs, Fri, Sat and those were some LONG days, but I survived and spent the rest of the weekend working on stuff to finish up our house. We finally got our guest bedroom all decorated and now we are redoing our master bedroom.... then when that is done we will work on the nursery. I have already been taking stuff out of there and throwing junk away. Not much storage in our house so we can really only keep the necessities. By the way I am starting to show a little bit, which I think it is too early to be showing so its probably just fatness...... I am only in my 11th week! Here is my week 11 update from what to expect.com :
Week 11 of Pregnancy: Baby's Hair and Fingernails Develop
Slightly more than two inches long now and weighing about a third of an ounce, your fetus is growing by leaps and bounds when you are 11 weeks pregnant. And so is his or her head, which is equal in length to the rest of the body (don't worry — all fetuses are top-heavy). On the crown of that large head (and over the rest of the body), hair follicles are forming. Fingernail and toenail beds begin to develop this week and by next week, the nails themselves will start to grow (so don't forget to add a baby nail clipper to your to-buy list).
Your baby's body is straightening and his or her torso is lengthening (sounds like a yoga pose, doesn't it?). Other poses your baby can assume now: stretches, somersaults, and forward rolls. And while you can't tell this baby's gender by its cover yet, testes are developing if it's a boy and ovaries if it's a girl.

Grapefruit size UTERUS....
I found out yesterday that my uterus is now the size of a grapefruit..... and I can really feel it now.... WEIRD! My sickness has lessened quite a bit, which I am very happy about! I am still sick off and on but not as consistent as I was there for a while! Plus I have actually had some energy off and on as well, just by 8:00 pm I am usually DEAD! Work has been BLAH lately so my friend Lindsy and I came up with a business plan and we decided to start our own event planning business, in which we will mainly focus on weddings..... our business is going to be called "Perfect Day Planners" and we already have a couple weddings we are working on, we both love planning, both are very organized, and both love weddings so I think it will be really great! Hopefully someday it will be big enough for us to do it full time!!!!
Back to baby talk..... my mom bought us our first set of baby clothes and some bibs, gender neutral of course. I love all the old wise tales that everyone keeps telling me about how to predict if it is a boy or a girl, if they are true then I am having a mixed boy/girl freak because each one of them tells me something different. haha ......... I go to the doctor tomorrow for my first official pregnancy exam, Jake is coming with me and I think we are going to get to hear the heart beat! THAT WILL BE AWESOME, I CANT WAIT! Here is the baby update of the week:
Week 10 of Pregnancy: Baby's Bones Develop
Your baby's growth is fast and furious when you are 10 weeks pregnant. He or she is nearly an inch and a half long and the size of a prune, but not nearly as shriveled (even with all the time it spends in water). In fact, your baby is really taking a human shape now. Bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. The arms (complete with elbows) can flex already, but don't run to the store for a baseball bat just yet. Though your baby's arms are taking shape and getting stronger, each one is only about the size of this number 1. The tooth bud fairy is making her appearance this week, heralding the arrival of your baby's little choppers, which are forming under the gums. (Those pearly whites won't break through the gums until your baby is close to six months old). Other systems are go, too. Your baby's stomach is producing digestive juices, the kidneys are producing larger quantities of urine, and, if your baby's a boy, he's already producing testosterone (yikes!).

Embryo to a Fetus...
So, the baby has officially changed from an embryo to a fetus, which I feel is kind of exciting..... it makes it sound more human! haha! I have been terribly sick and it is AWFUL, not to mention that we dont have air conditioning in our house STILL, but it gets installed TODAY and my life will be a billion times better! Luckily we had a window unit in our bedroom and that made sleeping a LOT easier!
I never knew how tired you are when you are pregnant! I hear that the first trimester is the worst, and god I hope so, cause this is TERRIBLE! I am constantly nauseas and always exhausted to the point where I could lay down and take a nap at any time of day! But in about a month I will be moving on to my 2nd trimester and hopefully get that infamous energy boost that everyone keeps telling me about!! But this will all be worth it in about 7 months when I get to meet my baby! CANT WAIT! Here is some info on what my baby is doing right now:
Week 9: Fetal Growth This Week
Your fetus is now about one inch long, the size of a medium green olive. The head has straightened out, the ears are much more prominent, and some new organs (the liver, spleen, and gallbladder) are forming.

Expecting..... cant believe it!
Well, the wedding has come and gone. It was an amazing day! The weather was PERFECT all day until about 4:30 (wedding was supposed to start at 5:30) when it started to rain....... and we couldnt use our backup anymore because it was too late to change. So we waited out the rain, dried off the chairs and snuck in our 25 min ceremony before the rain started again. It couldnt have worked out any better! The ceremony was awesome, the bus ride to the reception with the wedding party was awesome, and of course the reception was a GREAT time! Everyone danced and got real drunk...... which is what receptions are for--- it was really fun!
The next morning we were supposed to be at the airport at 8am for our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic .... our flight was supposed to be at 10am but when we got there they said our flight was cancelled. NEAT! So anyways, they got us on another flight at 8:35! AHHH SO we SPRINTED through the Des Moines airport and had to cut in line at security since they were calling our names over the PA system.....it was not a good start to the day! But we made it and our honeymoon was SO worth it! The Domincan Republic is AWESOME we went on some good excursions and met some fun people, and of course worked really hard on our tans! haha
THEN we got back and had to drive to another wedding in the Ozarks, which was fun. and I noticed I was late for that time of month before we left so I took a pregnancy test to make sure.... it was a negative result. Then we came back from the Ozarks and later that week I took another test since I was STILL late, and it came back positive (to my surprise). So anyways, I told Jake.... he was surprised, and we made a doc appointment.
Looks like I got pregnant on the wedding night and am due February 14th, 2010! VALENTINES DAY! I cant wait to find out the sex and to meet the baby! Baby Shandri is on the way!!!! I will update pregnancy stuff more often now that I am going to be sitting at work thinking about it all the time! haha
Thats all for now...... Oh yeah PS. I have been terribly sick from the pregnancy thing and really tired. YUCK. Cant wait until the so called 2nd trimester energy boost!
